What Homestyle is
Homestyle is an order-coordination tool for home chefs and their neighbors. We host storefronts, take orders, keep tallies, and send emails. We never handle, prepare, store, or deliver food, and we never process payments. Every sale is a direct transaction between a buyer and a chef.
If you sell on Homestyle
You confirm that you sell under your state's cottage food or home-kitchen rules, and that what you list is accurate — ingredients, allergens, and credentials included. Displaying a license number you don't hold, or misdescribing food, gets your storefront removed. You are the seller of record for everything you sell; Homestyle is not a party to the sale.
If you buy on Homestyle
You're buying food made in someone's home kitchen — that's the point, and it's also something to understand: home kitchens are generally not inspected by health authorities. Chefs list ingredients and allergens, but if you have serious allergies or dietary restrictions, message the chef before ordering. Payment happens directly between you and the chef at pickup.
Fees
Homestyle charges no fees — no listing fees, no cut of sales, no buyer fees. Read the whole promise on our About page.
Reviews & takedowns
Reviews can only be left on completed orders. Don't post anything false, hateful, or unrelated to the food. To report a listing, a chef, a review, or anything else that seems unsafe or dishonest, email hello@gethomestyle.com — we review reports promptly and remove content or accounts that break these terms or the law. Health authorities can reach us at the same address.
Privacy
We collect what the product needs and nothing more: your name, email, your orders and messages, and — for chefs — your storefront details and any credentials you choose to display. Sign-in is handled by Clerk; transactional email is sent through Resend; data lives in Supabase. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't share your information with anyone except those service providers. Your street address is never collected by us — pickup details are shared between you and the chef directly. To delete your account and data, email us.
The legal bits
Homestyle is provided as-is, without warranties. To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for the food, the transactions, or disputes between buyers and chefs — though we'll always help sort things out where we can. We may update these terms; material changes get a note on this page with a new date. Questions: hello@gethomestyle.com.
